Check accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA)

Accessibility has been a legal requirement for many websites since June 2025 – and the only one of our test fields in which a purely automatic test is demonstrably not sufficient. We test the 55 success criteria of WCAG 2.2, levels A and AA: machine, where clearly measurable – and with human judgment, where a machine cannot decide.

BaFG and BFSG: What since 28. June 2025 applies

The Austrian Accessibility Act (BaFG) and the German Accessibility Reinforcement Act (BFSG) have been in force since 28. June 2025 Commits large parts of e-commerce and digital services to accessibility, In practice, the standard is EN 301 549, which refers to the WCAG.

Frequent questions about Accessibility

Is an automatic tool such as an overlay or a scanner sufficient?

No. A significant part of the WCAG criteria cannot be decided by machine. Tools that still show “100% barrier-free” conceal this gap. With us, such criteria remain visibly open until an examiner has judged.

Do you check for WCAG 2.1 or 2.2?

According to WCAG 2.2, Levels A and AA — 55 success criteria, individually reported.

Am I affected by the BaFG/BFSG?

This is a legal question that we do not answer – roughly the obligation applies since 28.06.2025 for consumer e-commerce and certain digital services, with the exception of micro-enterprises for services. This clarifies binding legal advice; We provide the technical evidence.

What happens to criteria that your measurement does not find?

For us, a criterion is never considered fulfilled simply because the measurement has found nothing. Our measuring core is also tested against an audit page with intentionally built-in errors – if it does not find it, it is faulty, not the page good.

Good to know

A criterion shall only be deemed to have been passed if there is evidence.
Non-decidable criteria are assessed by an examiner — in the gold standard.
The partial seal is valid for 12 months and can be publicly verified at any time.
Repeat tests show the change over time.
