One topic per page: Title and H1 name the same
The title is in the hit list, the H1 on the page. Both answer the same question: what is this about? Say different things, the search result promises something different than the page holds, and Google has to guess which topic applies. The SEO checking area checks on marketing pages and the homepage whether title and H1 share a topic.
What exactly is checked
From Title and H1, the meaning-bearing words are read: Words from four letters, without filler words, without the company suffix behind a dot or vertical line. If title and H1 do not share a word or a word stem, the result arises. A title that consists only of greeting (Welcome, Home), says nothing about them on a bottom and also counts as inconsistent. On the homepage, such a title remains without judgment.
Why it matters
Google evaluates whether title, headline and content match; Searchers decide whether to click on the title and whether to stay on the H1. A modular system that gives each page the same title gives away exactly this assignment.
- For each page, set a topic and call it in title and H1 with the same core words; the title may attach the name of the organisation.
- Share pages that carry two topics: each topic gets a page with its own title.
- In the CMS, check the template that creates the title; Often there is a fixed text for all sides.
- After changing the study read: the finding disappears as soon as a word stem is in both.
