Videos, maps, and feeds: load embeds only after consent
Embedded third-party content — videos, maps, social feeds — may only load after consent. The check distinguishes between a direct embed and a placeholder solution that only loads the content on click.
- The placeholder solution is the usual approach: instead of the video, a placeholder with a notice appears, and only the click loads the third-party content. What matters is that the placeholder is truly local — a preview image from the third-party server already establishes the connection.
- The second most common mistake is an embed in the footer that nobody notices: a map on the contact page, a feed in the sidebar. They load along with every visit.
- The inspector recognises ballast solutions by their design and does not count them as a result – a correctly implemented two-click solution is a solution.
