Date of submission: published and updated
Searchers and search engines ask first in a post: from when? A date arranges the text, an update date shows that it is maintained. The SEO check area checks on pages of the post type whether a publication date is technically available.
What exactly is checked
The kernel searches for a time element with datetime within an article or with appropriate marking, the meta indication article:published time and the field datePublished in the JSON-LD. If all three are missing, the result arises. A date as pure text (March 12, 2026) is not recognized because it is indistinguishable for machines from the date of an appointment in the text.
Why it matters
Google shows the date in the hit list and prefers current posts for time-dependent topics. A missing date makes Google estimate, often wrong. A dateModified that goes along with the content is the signal for care.
- Release and update date visible under the heading, as a time element with datetime in the format YYYY-MM-DD.
- Additionally as meta property=article:published time and article:modified time as well as datePublished and dateModified in the Article-JSON-LD; the CMS fills both from the contribution dataset.
- change dateModified only if the content has been changed; an automatic date on each save is an incorrect indication.
- Older contributions are updated when they have been revised.
