Rich schema: which markup AI systems actually use

Structured data turns text into machine-readable statements: who the publisher is, when something was published, what question is being answered here. The check verifies whether markup exists that goes beyond the minimum.

  • For an answer system, the difference is substantial: with no markup, it has to infer from the text who's making a claim. With markup, it's simply stated.
  • Connected markup works better than isolated markup: when the article, publisher, and breadcrumb path reference each other, a structure emerges instead of separate pieces of data.

FAQ

Do AI systems even use structured data?

They're one of several sources. The advantage lies in clarity: a date in the schema is a date; a date in body text first has to be recognised as one.

Is Organization plus BreadcrumbList enough?

As a foundation, yes. What should be added is whatever defines the page's content — Article for editorial text, FAQPage for questions.
